Overview
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
It is delivered in a blended format, combining online pre-learning with a practical, face-to-face workshop. You'll learn to respond confidently to common injuries and emergencies, using real-world scenarios and hands-on practice.
What you'll learn
This course will teach you how to stay calm and respond effectively in an emergency. Key topics include:
- •Recognising and responding to an emergency situation.
- •Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult, child and infant.
- •Using an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.
- •Managing bleeding, shock, burns, fractures, sprains, and strains.
- •Responding to poisoning, bites, stings, and anaphylaxis.
- •Assessing the casualty and monitoring their condition.
- •Recording and reporting incidents in a workplace setting.

You'll need to be able to:
- •Perform at least 2 minutes of CPR on an adult manikin on the floor.
- •Understand and communicate basic English.
- •Bring valid photo ID on the day of your practical session.

- How long does my first aid certificate last?
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is valid for 3 years. The CPR component (HLTAID009) is valid for 12 months and should be refreshed annually.
- When will I receive my certificate?
- You'll typically receive your Statement of Attainment within 24-48 hours of successful completion. If you use Training Wallet, it will sync automatically once issued.
- What do I need to bring on the day?
- Please bring a valid Photo ID (like a driver's licence) and your Unique Student Identifier (USI). Wear comfortable clothing suitable for practical exercises on the floor.
After your course
You'll receive your Statement of Attainment by email within 1-2 business days. If you use Training Wallet, your credential will appear automatically and we'll remind you when it's due for renewal.
